North America

In the U.S. and Mexico, we have played an important role in shaping cities and towns, creating landmarks and improving the quality of life through our environments. With six U.S. offices, we design long-lasting commercial, workplace, civic and public, and healthcare projects that consistently surpass our clients’ and users’ expectations.

Featured Projects
Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts
In Richardson, Texas, a new arts center provides a civic cornerstone for an emerging urban core in North Texas’ technology district. Situated on a small site joining a new two-acre public plaza, a DART light rail station, a hotel, and several mixed-use buildings, the design of this landmark facility creates maximum flexibility to accommodate multiple uses at the same time.
Gateway Student Residence, MICA
In a heavily trafficked location bordering one of Baltimore’s main highways, a new, unconventional residential building meets the challenges of the small site, addresses the urban context and creates a fitting gateway to the art school’s campus. Conceived as the result of an RTKL interoffice design contest, the 100,000-SF structure provides a stunning new landmark for downtown Baltimore.
The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano
The new high-tech, full-service cardiovascular hospital adjacent to the Baylor Regional Medical Center was designed to support advanced clinical protocols. Featuring 68 ICU-capable private rooms for improved safety and efficiency, the 198,000-SF technologically sophisticated building provides upscale hotel-like comfort to attract discerning consumers.
Westfield San Francisco Centre
The ambitious redevelopment of San Francisco’s landmark Emporium Building evolved into one the most significant urban mixed-use projects in the United States. In addition to the preserved historic building, the new center offers a cutting-edge retail, entertainment, office and dining experience and the largest urban shopping environment west of the Mississippi.
The Food and Drug Administration Headquarters
The FDA, responsible for the safety of U.S. food, drugs, medical devices and cosmetics, employed more than 5,000 people in 40 buildings at 18 locations in the Washington, DC, area. To consolidate these facilities and create a consistent culture, the FDA acquired a two million-SF campus for a workplace environment that creates community, bolsters workflow and enhances operations.
Mockingbird Station
In Dallas, where Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) ridership totals more than 97 million trips per year, transit-oriented development is providing a model for other cities. One such successful flagship development is Mockingbird Station, a 10-acre urban-style village that mixes residential, office and retail with a pedestrian-friendly framework.
