Europe

Throughout Europe, cities and towns are being revitalized with a renewed commitment to smart growth, sustainability and urbanism. Since the opening of our London office in 1990 and Madrid in 1999, we have contributed significantly to that cause, designing more than 500,000 SM of commercial and institutional projects in the UK and Europe, including some of the most economically successful developments of the past decade.

Featured Projects
Naberezhnaya Towers
Comprised of three Class-A office towers and located in the heart of Moscow, this 1.6 million-SF development sets a new standard for Russian business centers. Convenient access to a transport system, a shopping mall and upscale residential options make this location not only a premium workplace, but an integral element of Moscow’s urban landscape
Palladium
Located on the site of an old stable and barracks building, the design restores the architectural style of the site's early structure and boasts a restored front façade. Portions of the original foundation, dating back to the 12th century, are incorporated into the architecture of the 1.2 million-SF mall. The thematic concepts celebrate the history of the site by drawing on Prague's rich tradition of music, theater and the arts.
The Harbor: Leith Docks
This mixed-use development is part of the single largest regeneration project in Edinburgh’s history. It will transform this inaccessible industrial area into an active waterfront esplanade that will function as the civic heart of a new community. The Harbour: Leith Docks will include a dynamic mix of amenities including offices, hotels, leisure activities, retail, civic space, and housing.
John Radcliffe Hospital
As the architectural consultant for the John Radcliffe Hospital, RTKL created a design that addresses the need to strategically relocate the neurosciences department, as well as the adult head and neck specialty department, from the Radcliffe Infirmary to the main site. The 450,000-SF facility in Oxford, England, connects the existing facilities and incorporates a sustainability strategy.
Metropolis
Prominently located in Russia’s capital city, this 3.4 million-SF retail and office development represents a new generation of commercial development for a burgeoning region of Moscow. Metropolis introduces a modern mixed-use environment, while also creating a sophisticated space that fits into the local setting. Inspired by the energy of the urban environment, Metropolis has become a celebrated extension of downtown Moscow and a catalyst for future regeneration.
Malaga Train Station
RTKL was commissioned to create a master plan that would position a historic train station as a unifying core within a new 538,000-SF mixed-use development in the city of Malaga, one of Spain’s most popular coastal destinations. RTKL’s master plan and architectural scheme focuses on accommodating and highlighting the station’s transit functions, while infusing the space with a variety of mixed-use components.
