Environments

The Environments Studio, a group of professionals from a range of disciplines, has developed a unique way of translating our clients' intangible brand, corporate mission or desired experience into a tangible, built environment. The strategic approach to design helps to bring our clients closer to reaching their short- and long-term business and environmental goals.

Featured Projects
General Motors
The new 21,000-SF workplace for General Motors’ government relations office showcases its well-known brand and provides sophisticated, welcoming space for high-profile clientele. The office emphasizes openness, and expresses the three pervasive brand concepts that drive the design scheme: road trip, innovation, and machine.
American Trucking Association
In moving from an urban high-rise to a suburban location, the trucking industry’s national trade association was concerned that they would hurt the collaborative nature of their culture. RTKL worked with them to create an environment that has had the opposite effect: creating a more interactive workplace and strengthening ATA’s identity.
Laureate, Inc.
Laureate, a global provider of campus-based and online education, consolidated its Baltimore operations into a single location. Working closely with the client, the design team dug deep to define qualities of Laureate’s unique culture, then translated them to an agreed-upon design language that solves problems, improves operations and communicates brand.
CSC Aldershot
Computer Sciences Corporation, a global technology leader, consolidated its 10 UK locations to increase efficiency, improve communication and enforce a single corporate culture. The award-winning complex, a series of buildings in a historic woodland setting, serves as a cultural, learning and research hub that promotes teaming and collaboration.
Kim Heartwell AIA, Senior Vice President
“It's not so much about who we bring to the table--interior designers, architects, graphic designers, branding specialists, writers, environmental graphic designers--as it is about when and why. The depth and breadth of our expertise is unquestionable and unparalleled, but the true value lies in understanding the importance of having these experts in the right combinations on the right projects at the right steps in the process.”
