National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Campus East (NGA)

A U.S. federal agency revamps its headquarters and creates a new type of government workplace.

From the beginning of this signature project, NGA leaders presented a clear objective for their new 2.4 million-SF East Coast headquarters: to reinforce and enhance the organization’s vision and to achieve a unifying, collaborative and mission-focused cultural transformation. As the third largest government facility in the Washington, D.C. region, the challenge for the designers was incorporating this objective while consolidating the agency’s six existing locations into one self-contained campus. The massive undertaking proved to be successful as NGA became the largest U.S. Federal Government building to achieve LEED Gold certification.
